Tola Wewe

Tola Wewe is a visionary Nigerian artist whose vibrant works draw inspiration from Yoruba tradition yet globally fluent in modern expression. He is a pioneer of contemporary African art and a founding member of Nigeria’s contemporary art movement, Wewe blends tradition with innovation, merging ancient motifs with abstract forms and a masterful command of color. 

With over four decades of practice, Tola Wewe’s work explores themes such as gender, identity, community, and spirituality. His artistic journey has positioned him as one of the most influential African artists of the 21st century, with a body of work that continues to evolve and inspire. His body of works have been exhibited globally including: Lagos, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Dubai, United States
