Sam Ebohon: Finding Balance 2
Sam Ebohon: Finding Balance 2
About the work
Ebohon’s paintings possess a signature blurry image with well-defined lines masked by a mirage of fluidity and motion. Ebohon’s paintings take a step further from merely borrowing concepts from cubism and futurism; they instead defy the concepts and, through this defiance, produce an effect one can only describe as idiosyncratic. Ebohon paints with textures that are borderline surreal.
Ebohon’s painting, “Finding Balance II,” is a perfect example of the surreality of this pseudo-fluid effect. In “Finding Balance II,” Ebohon acquiesces his art style to depict a man’s face in contemplation with his eyes closed, perhaps alluding to a person seeking to be in the moment. Ups and downs are not unusual in life, and the propensity to be engrossed in the future or the past certainly exists in abundance for humans. However, Ebohon urges us to sit back and take a breath. That way, we will find that all that worries us is either within our control or out of it, either side giving a certain level of comfort.
